Travel with Purpose

At Tribu Collective, we travel to fully live. We travel to deeply learn. We travel to make a difference-- in the lives of our fellow travellers, in the communities we visit, and in ourselves. Our journeys always focus on preserving local culture, wildlife and the environment.

Tribu Collective designs immersive, experiential itineraries for families and groups seeking unique, purposeful, and enriching travel experiences in Asia Pacific. We help families travel with less hassle, more ease and greater confidence to visit relatively undiscovered parts of this region.

Our  trips are designed to enable travelers of all ages to expand their experiences - and their minds - beyond the usual ‘tourist meccas’ and to fully engage in activities that bring them to a deeper and more heartfelt understanding of local culture and people.

PHILIPPINES

The Philippines is a vibrant Southeast Asian country filled with tropical wonders. As the only country in Asia to have been under Spanish colonial rule for over 300 years, the Philippines has a unique history, displayed through its architecture, Catholic religious traditions and language. The Filipino population is an ethnically diverse mix of Malay, Spanish and Chinese people who have harmoniously integrated elements of their customs into the Filipino culture we see today.

Enduring past political turbulence, the Philippines has blossomed into a Southeast Asian economic powerhouse, with a stabilised modern society rich in cultural diversity. Past alliances with the U.S. have heavily influenced the Philippines, leading to an adoption of the English language, American government and educational systems, food and fashion. English-speaking travellers will find great ease in getting around the country, especially in metropolitan areas like Manila. Filipino people are known for their warm-hearted and welcoming nature, which is sure to aid in enlightening travel discoveries of local food and festivities.

INDONESIA

Most Westerners associate Indonesia with Bali. Rightly so, Bali is the most popular destination although this country is so much more. It is another Southeast Asian country in our favourite list with 17,000 islands and over 300 languages spoken in this vast archipelago. The immense diversity amongst its people, land and wildlife makes any trip to Indonesia a spectacular holiday for those looking for immersive experiences.

Our journeys will focus on a few highlights in Indonesia. The first is the endangered orangutans in their natural habitat in Borneo and Sumatra. The Indonesian forests and old growth trees critical to the orangutans’ survival have been burning down for the farming of palm oil, a raw ingredient vastly used in food and beauty products. The orangutans’ natural habitat is in peril and so is this great ape species. This experience is transformational, getting you up close and personal to the orangutans while learning more about these intelligent creatures, their shrinking population, and how we could help minimise the primary threat to these critically endangered species.

Discover the Bali like it was a few decades ago- a mecca for those seeking a more spiritual experience. It’s too easy to get on the wrong path here yet difficult to find your way to a real authentic experience- before the movie Eat, Pray, Love brought the throngs of tourists to this magical island. We know how to do Bali replete of the predictable resorts, unruly crowds and the ever-present tour groups and buses.

MYANMAR

Myanmar, formerly known as Burma, is a Southeast Asian nation spanning the Himalayas in the north all the way to the tropical regions of the south by Thailand. The patchwork tapestry is an apt metaphor for Myanmar given its vastly diverse cultures, biodiversity and physical landscapes. It is a country rich in cultural heritage, wildlife and natural resources, with its local teak and jade rated amongst the finest in the world. Buddhism is practiced by nearly 90% of Myanmar’s citizens. It has an incredible collection of religious monuments, temples and monasteries across the country, as well as the glittering pagodas that dot the remote countryside as one meanders up and down the Ayeyarwady (Irrawaddy) River.

Myanmar is on the verge of Westernisation, making a compelling case to curious travellers that the best time to visit is right now. Tribu Collective offers journeys that both educate and inspire visitors about the amazing diversity of Myanmar land, people and wildlife
